Time Blocking
Time blocking is a time management method where you schedule specific blocks of time for particular tasks or types of work in your calendar. Instead of working from a to-do list alone, you allocate dedicated periods to focus on those items.
This strategy, popularized by Brian Tracy, means tackling your most challenging or unpleasant task (the "frog") first thing in the morning. It prevents procrastination on important work by getting it out of the way early.
The Pomodoro Technique is a time management method that uses a timer to break work into focused intervals, traditionally 25 minutes in length, separated by short breaks. Each interval is known as a "pomodoro."
Task batching involves grouping similar small tasks together and completing them in one dedicated time block, rather than scattering them throughout the day. This minimizes context switching and leverages mental momentum.
Single-tasking is the practice of focusing on one task at a time until completion or a designated stopping point, deliberately avoiding multitasking. It emphasizes depth over breadth in attention.
Optimizing your learning environment involves creating a physical and mental space conducive to focus, concentration, and effective study. It recognizes that external factors can significantly impact learning.
